Agar Agar Non-Food Grade
Agar Agar is derived from red algae or seaweeds of the class Rhodophyceae and it has a wide range of applications in Food Industry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Dentistry, Cosmetics, Airfreshner Gel etc. It acts as a stabilizing, thickening and gelling agent. It is been used as an ingredient in desserts, and also as a solid substrate to contain culture media for microbiological work. Agar Agar can be used as a laxative, an appetite enhance, a vegetarian substitute for gelatin, a thickener for soups, in fruit preserves, ice cream, and other desserts and as a clarifying agent in brewing.

Agar Agar as a culture media is widely used for practically all pathogenic and non pathogenic bacteria and fungi as agar agar does not inhibit the growth of the above organisms and it’s gel has good firmness, elasticity, clarity and stability.
Applications:
- Culture Media: Because of its high gellifying power and its vegetable origin, Agar Agar constitutes a natural non-toxic matrix for the formation of culture media. It is widely used for practically all pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria and fungi because it is not easy to metabolise and has a good gel firmness, elasticity, clarity and stability.
- Plant Tissue Culture: The major application of Agar Agar is in th field of plant tissue culture. Tissue culture is emerging as the standard method for the propagation of orchids and other ornamental plants, vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products and this has increased the demand for Agar Agar.
- Dentistry: In prosthetic dentistry, Agar Agar is used in the preparation of dental casts. It is an elastic impression material and it can be reused for making multiple impressions.
- Air Freshener Gel: Agar Agar is being used in gel form in Air Fresheners. It will have a gel texture with the essential oils infused within it.

Application:
- Air Freshener Gel: Agar Agar is also being used in gel form in Air Fresheners. It acts as a gelling agent and helps to retain the smell in essential oils.
- Bio Fertilizer: We offer Agar Agar used in the production of bio fertilizer gels. It is an allowed biofertilizer component used in organic farming.
- Cosmetics Agar Agar also has its unique role in skin care and cosmetic production. In the cosmetic industry it is mostly used as gelling, thickening and stablising agent in facial cream/lotion, foundation, shaving creams, tooth paste, liquid soap, body wash and others.
- Insect Feeds: Agar Agar provides crickets and other feeder insects with a safe, clean water source in a convenient gel form. This easy-to-use formula eliminates many of the problems associated with traditional watering methods, such as the formation of deadly bacteria and loss through drowning. Due to its unique characteristics, Agar has gained tremendous importance in the field of cricket farming.
- Dentistry: In dentistry, Agar Agar is used to make dental impressions. The Agar Agar type hydrocolloids are thermoplastic, elastic materials which are softened by heating, hardened by cooling and used repeatedly. In the hardened state, they are flexible and elastic and ideal for making dental molds and impressions.
